    RCS Grills Buyer’s Guide

    History of the RCS Grills

The journey of RCS gas grills began over seven decades ago from the time Ralph Cunningham, his wife, and one of his daughters moved to Austin, Texas and established Cunningham Plumbing Company.

The Great Depression Era affected Ralph, his family, and the company. It affected Ralph so much that he died in his sleep shortly. This made things even harder for Cunningham.

The oldest son, Roy, dropped out of school to take over the Plumbing Company. A few years later, he joined the Navy, as his three brothers did later to keep the family and the company afloat.

A few years after joining the Houston Fire Department, a local gas company, United Gas, approached Roy and the Cunningham's to install gaslights and grills. Roy saw a new opportunity in the industry and concluded to modify the company's name to Cunningham Gas Products.

The next several years were crowned with retail sales and wholesale expansion across Texas and beyond. In 2003, the Cunningham’s went into the manufacture of overseas grills. Thus, owning the brand, Renaissance Cooking Systems, also known as RCS.
